Permanent magnet, TEFC, 800 to 3400 RPM

Pipeline Pumps®

A variable speed pump with a permanent magnet TEFC motor in 1-1/2 HP and 3 HP, from AquaStar of Ventura, California.

Half speed, one eighth the electricity

AquaStar's own figure for the Pipeline Pump is this: running it at half speed consumes only 1/8th of the electricity. That is not a trick of the motor. Pump power falls with the cube of speed, and half of speed cubed is one eighth.

A single-speed pump spends every hour of the day at full speed, whether the pool needs full flow or not. A variable speed pump lets the circulation run slowly for the long hours and speed up only for the jobs that call for it, which is where the saving on the electric bill comes from.

Nick Gonzalez, who left a Google review of AquaStar, put the everyday side of it plainly: "Our pump is easy to use and super quiet." AquaStar's own line for the pump is "So quiet, you'll wonder if it's on."

Four speeds from 800 to 3400 RPM

The Pipeline Pump runs a permanent magnet motor in a TEFC enclosure, which stands for totally enclosed, fan cooled. The enclosure keeps water and debris out of the windings while the fan moves air over the housing.

It carries four programmable speeds across a range of 800 to 3400 RPM, so the low setting can be tuned to a quiet daily turnover and the high setting kept for vacuuming or a feature that needs the push.

An RS485 port is built in. RS485 is a standard serial connection used for wired control, so ask your distributor or AquaStar's Ventura office which controls pair with it before you spec one.

Choosing 1-1/2 HP or 3 HP

The pump comes in two sizes, 1-1/2 HP and 3 HP. The right one follows the flow the plumbing needs and the head the pump works against, so take the pool's flow requirement to your distributor and let them match it to one of the two.

AquaStar sells the Pipeline Pump with the Pipeline Filter and PureStar ozone as The New 3, which it calls "the most efficient pool system on the market." A portion of proceeds from every Pipeline Pump sold goes to Every Child a Swimmer.

AquaStar does not sell direct. Orders and pricing go through your local authorized distributor.
